Haiyang Water Conservancy

The north of Haiyang is mainly made up of hills and the south of river alluvial plain and coastal plain. The terrain generally tends to be high in middle, low around, high in the north and low in the south. Most of the water resource is along the rivers and the small alluvial plains. The water supply for Haiyang totals 160 million cubic meters. The underground water in Haiyang for exploitation is 121 million cubic meters. The 2142 electromechanical wells for farming use are designed to provide water of 63 million cubic meters and they actually provide water of 58.77 million cubic meters a year; the 211 wells drilled by the enterprises and the public units for their own use are designed to provide water of 3.8 million cubic meters a year; the two tap water fields can supply water of 8.65 million cubic meters; so the supplies water totals 71.22 million cubic meters. As to the various surface water-storing projects, the three middle-sized reservoirs have a gross capacity of 62.18 million cubic meters among which 28 million is utilizable; the 17 small type A reservoirs have a gross capacity of 72.58 million cubic meters among which 40.75 million is utilizable; the 89 small type B reservoirs have a gross capacity of 21.06 million cubic meters among which 12.87 million is utilizable; the 319 storage dams have a gross capacity of 10.71 million cubic meters and 3 million is utilizable; the other projects can store water of 5.6 million cubic meters. The effective storage capacity of surface water projects in normal years amounts to 90.22 million cubic meters.
