Vegetables |
Since the eighth five-year plan, taking developing high-yield,
hi-tech agriculture, strengthening rural economies and
increasing farmers' income as starting points, Haiyang
has adjusted its agricultural structure and the production
of vegetable has enjoyed a quick development. Now, the
vegetable industry has become a pillar industry of the
rural industry of Haiyang. By the end of 2002, the vegetable-growing
area totalled 200,000 mu; the sunlight greenhouse sheds
numbered 40,000; the area of small and medium-sized arch
sheds hit 66,000 mu. The total vegetable output hits 800,000
tons which makes it the biggest produce and sale center
of Jiaodong in spring and winter.
The vegetables grown in greenhouses mainly include cucumber,
tomato, leek, eggplant, pepper, kidney bean, ginger and
so on. The growing technique and output of tomatoes and
cucumbers have both reached the advanced levels in China.
The average per-mu output of grafted cucumbers is 12,000
kgs and the highest 22,770 kgs. The cucumbers from the
sunlight greenhouse of Zhao Guoyuan rank the first in
terms of production cycle and per-mu yield. The high-yield
and high-efficiency tomato-growing technique should be
popularized. The town of Liugezhuang has been set as a
leek-growing base, Facheng and Xiaoji as taro-growing
base, Xingcun, Xiaoji and Lidian as cucumber-growing base
and Yanjia as tomato-growing base.
Recently, with the life quality increasing, people's demand
for agricultural products is higher and higher. The standard
agricultural production aims to develop innocuous green
products in order to become competitive and increase profits.
Haiyang has established a series of standard systems on
innocuous vegetables.
