By the end of 2002, Haiyang had 114 large-scale enterprises which included state-owned ones and those non state-owned ones with a sales income of more than 5 million yuan. The number of small-scale and non state-owned enterprises was 599 and that of individual ones 2723. Industry mainly comes in sweater, knitting, construction machinery, hardware, aquatic product and so on.

The added value for industry:
The added value for the whole was 2.32 billion yuan, 1.13 billion from large-scale enterprises, 0.33 billion from limited companies, 0.37 billion from private ones and 0.26 billion from foreign investment. The light industry enjoyed a bigger increase than the heavy industry, their increases being 0.63 billion yuan and 0.5 billion yuan respectively.

Sales of industrial products:
The sales rate of large-scale industrial products stood at 97.7%, that of light industry 98.4% and that of heavy industry 96.7%.

Sales income and taxes:
The sales income of large-scale enterprises was 3.76 billion yuan, with 1.07 from limitd companies, 1.08 billion from private ones, and 0.83 from foreign investment. The taxes totalled 0.33 billion yuan, with 0.12 billion from limited companies, 0.11 billion from private ones and 0.08 billion from foreign investment.
