In 2002, the gross output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery reached 2.48 billion yuan. With the production of grain and oil stabalized, the pillar industries such as vegetables, fruits, animal husbandry and aquatic products have been formed.

Grain & Oil:
The grain and oil crops mainly contain wheat, corn, sweet potato, peanut and so on. In 2002, the sown area of grain and oil crops stood at 60,000 hectares, bringing an output of 299,000 tons among which summer grain was 99,000 tons and autumn grain 200,000 tons. The sown oil plants covered an area of 118,000 hectares which brought an output of 62,000 tons.

Vegetable:
Haiyang attaches great importance to the production of vegetables and develops vegetable-growing in sheds. Now, Haiyang has become an important vegetable base of Jiaodong in dull season. In 2002, the sown area of vegetables was 10,000 hectares, bringing an output of 554,000 tons.

Fruits:
Haiyang abounds in apple, peache, pear, grape, cherry and so on. The apple is an important fruit of Haiyang, in particular, "Red Fuji" enjoys a good reputation, so Haiyang is named "The Hometown of Chinese Red Fuji Apple". In 2002, the fruit output for the whole year was 78,000 tons and that of apples was 70,000 tons.

Animal Husbandry:
The animal husbandry mainly include pig, cattle, sheep, rabbit, fowl and silkworm cocoon. A way combining a large-scale management and disperse breeding has been created. In 2002, 133,000 heads of pig were pened for breeding and 171,000 were unpened for meat. 51,000 heads of big animals were pened. The meat output of the whole year totalled 19,000 tons, the output of fowls 29,000 tons, the milk output 9,000 tons and the output of silkworm cocoon 1,408 tons.

Fishery:
Haiyang is aboundant in aquatic products, such as mackerel, Pacific herring, prawn, scallop, oyster, shuttle-like crab and so on. In 2002, Haiyang paid great attention to the breeding of renowned products and long-range fishing which brought an output of 292,000 tons. Among the 292,000 tons, 157,000 tons is from fishing, and 131,000 tons from sea water breeding and 4,000 from fresh water breeding.

Forestry:
In 2002, the forestry enjoyed a quick development and the planting area for the whole year hit 3,965 hectares with 500,000 trees.

The production conditions and the infrastructure in the countryside were further improved. By the end of 2002, the power for agricultural machines totalled 419,000 kw and the electric power consumption was 150 million kwh. The amount of fertilizer used for the whole year totalled 36,000 tons and the effective irrigation area 36,000 hectares occupying 59.8% of the total area.
